DIANA RUBAN

"As a self-taught artist from Kremenchuk, Ukraine, my work is a constant quest for expression through art, with a particular focus on the representation of the female form. Throughout my career, I have sought to capture not only the physical form but the essence of women, showcasing their strength, vulnerability, and transformation through adversity. My art reflects my own vision of women as resilient beings, capable of rebirth and finding their power, even amidst suffering."

Diana Ruban is a Ukrainian artist from the Poltava region, specifically the city of Kremenchuk. She began her artistic journey at a young age, initially expressing herself through drawing. At the age of 16, her passion for art was further fueled when she received her first set of acrylic paints. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of her artistic evolution, leading her to explore more complex and profound creative expressions.

A completely self-taught artist, Ruban has no formal training, which she believes has allowed her to develop a unique and personal style. Her work is deeply introspective, often exploring themes of identity, resilience, and the human experience. Central to her practice is her commitment to representing the female form, which she depicts not as a passive subject, but as an empowered and dynamic presence. Ruban’s women are portrayed as powerful, free from societal limitations, and reborn from suffering, embodying strength, authenticity, and self-assurance.

Her works are characterized by bold, expressive brushstrokes and a vivid use of color that invites the viewer into an intimate dialogue with the subjects of her paintings. Ruban’s commitment to portraying the female experience is rooted in her belief in the strength of women, who, through adversity, emerge more powerful and true to themselves.

Over the years, Ruban has built a strong international presence, exhibiting her work in several prestigious venues. She has participated in group exhibitions in countries such as Turkey, Scotland, Switzerland, and the United States. In addition, she has held solo exhibitions in her native Ukraine, showcasing her journey and artistic growth. In 2024, her work gained notable recognition when it was featured in Harper’s Bazaar, further solidifying her place in the international art scene.

Ruban’s art is a testament to the resilience and strength of women, capturing not only their physical forms but their inner power, emotions, and stories of survival.
