IRINKA TALAKHADZE

"Art is my way of reconnecting with my past, capturing emotions and energy that invite others to experience the world as I feel it."
Raised by an artist father, Irinka Talakhadze has been immersed in the world of art from an early age. Her father, a profound influence on her artistic journey, instilled in her a deep connection to creativity, and she has been surrounded by art for as long as she can remember. With the passing of her father, the act of creating art has taken on an even more poignant significance for Talakhadze. It has become a way for her to feel close to him once again, offering her a means of reconnecting with his spirit and continuing the artistic dialogue they once shared. This emotional connection adds an extra layer of meaning to her works, infusing them with a sense of reverence and love.
Talakhadze's artistic process is centered around conveying the raw energy and emotions she feels deeply within herself. She strives to capture and express these feelings in a way that is not only personal but also universal—so that her viewers can experience and share in these same emotions. For Talakhadze, inspiration is drawn from an endless array of sources. She finds spontaneity and expression in the works of artists such as Francis Bacon, whose raw energy and intensity resonate with her. But inspiration can also be found in the smallest, most quotidian occurrences—those seemingly insignificant moments that, when observed through the lens of an artist’s eye, become infused with meaning and significance.
Her colorful body of work is deeply influenced by her background and the cultural context of the Soviet aesthetic, which leaves an imprint on her creative approach. Talakhadze explores the relationship between the tangible and the intangible—what we see and what we believe an image to represent. This exploration is central to her art, where the surface appearance of things often masks deeper, more elusive truths. She is particularly interested in the concept of transparency, viewing it as a form of honesty, a way to peel back layers and expose the inner workings of the self.
Through her emotionally charged and vibrant works, Talakhadze expresses her inner world, translating her personal experiences, memories, and emotions into art. Her paintings are not only a reflection of her past but also an invitation for the viewer to enter into that emotional realm, offering a space where the boundaries between artist and observer dissolve. In this shared space, the audience is invited to connect with the stories and feelings embedded within each piece. Talakhadze’s approach to art serves as a bridge between the artist and the viewer, fostering a mutual understanding that transcends the traditional separation between creator and audience.
